The Links at Madison Green

The Links at Madison GreenWith over 200 courses in Palm Beach County, architect John Sanford knew going in he would have to create something special to get people’s attention. At The Links at Madison Green he did just that, creating a unique course that combines many of the bst features found in other local courses, with more than a few unique surprises of its own.

The course plays a demanding 7,051 yards from the championship tees but offers four additional sets of tees at 6,723, 6,302, 5,494 and 4,863 yards respectively, giving players the chance to bite off as much course as their game will enjoy!

One very interesting aspect of the design is that not only does the course get longer as you move back in tees, but the shot angles also get increasingly challenging. This means that the good player not only has further to hit but must also place the ball more accurately on the fairway in order to set himself up for his next shot. In this regard, Sanford has succeeded in designing The Links at Madison Green as a course that can accommodate all players. A young teen, his father, his mother and even his grandfather playing together from four different sets of tees will all experience a fair challenge for their respective games that still remains enjoyable!

The Links at Madison GreenPerhaps the most unique aspect of the design and one not found in any other course in the county is the way that natural sand barrens line the course and transition the bright green fairways with the natural vegetation of palmettos, grasses and pines beyond. The subtle blending of several native grasses along the rolling dunes heightens the visual framing of each hole and provides a daunting challenge to those who stray too far from the fairways.

Over a thousand palm trees line the course, as do over 100 bunkers waiting to gobble up an errant shot. Forty-two acres of shimmering lakes must be negotiated by the player, although these hazards are accompanied by generous landing areas.

The architect has incorporated into the design many subtle ways of deceiving the player visually. For example, the par-4 seventh hole has the appearance of being very open, but the big hitter will fi nd the hole narrows very quickly, with water right and a large fairway bunker protecting the left. The 10th hole creates the opposite illusion, with water on the right, this tee shot looks to be extremely tight.

The Links at Madison GreenThere is, however, plenty of room on the left not easily apparent from the back tees. The course contains an excellent balance of long and short holes, par-5s that are reachable and those that are not. The four par-3s are among the best in the county and the course routing, which takes the player in several different directions, means that the character of each of the par-4s can change daily with the breeze.

Once safely on the green, you will experience one of the few courses in Palm Beach with TifEagle Bermuda grass, thus creating the purest and best rolling greens in the Palm Beach County area.

A well-thought-out aqua range with numerous tees and island targets provides an additional aspect of fun to your practice sessions before or after your round.

Located in the heart of Royal Palm Beach, The Links at Madison Green is just 15 minutes from downtown West Palm Beach and offers easy access from I-95 and the Florida Turnpike.
