The PGA Golf Club

The PGA Golf ClubEvery year, more than 1,300 PGA Professionals visit and play the three fabulous courses that are also open to the public at The PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Fl. Two of these courses the Wanamaker Course and Ryder Course have just reopened after multi-million dollar renovations to the playing and putting surfaces, as well as the now pristine white sand bunkers. The Wanamaker Course (formerly the South Course) was named after PGA of America founder Rodman Wanamaker, who donated the Wanamaker Trophy, which is annually awarded to the PGA Champion. The Ryder Course (formerly the North Course) was named after Samuel Ryder, namesake founder of the Ryder Cup and its golden chalice trophy.

The Tom Fazio-designed and extensively renovated Wanamaker and Ryder Courses made their grand debut in October 2006. The reopening of these two impressive courses signaled a rejuvenation for The PGA Golf Club, which had already received numerous accolades over the years from the likes of Golf Digest, GOLF and Golf for Women Magazines.

The vast improvements to the Wanamaker Course and Ryder Course include the complete renovation of a total of 120 bunkers; the remodeling or resurfacing of all 36 greens with beautiful Champion Ultra Dwarf grass; impressive new landscaping; golf car path restoration and significantly enhanced drainage. Meanwhile, 150 hitting stations were added to the practice tee.

In 2007, the Dye Course at The PGA Golf Club, designed by and named for renowned course architect Pete Dye, will undergo a similar makeover. Longer-term plans also call for significant improvements to the clubhouse.

In addition to the Ryder, Wanamaker and Dye Courses, you can also enjoy a spectacular 35-acre golf park at the remarkable PGA Learning Center -- home to the PGA of America Golf Schools; golf clinics from PGA Professional instructors; state-of-the-art technology for instruction and club fitting; nine different practice bunkers that simulate play from around the world; and unlimited range balls that you can hit all day long.

Open to the public, thousands of vacationers come down to The PGA Golf Club's facilities each year for short stay-and-play opportunities.

There are also those smart souls who have realized this place that PGA Professionals call their "home away from home" can actually be their own golf home as well and have settled permanently into the adjacent PGA Village. Both the PGA Golf Club and the surrounding PGA Village neighborhood began a decade ago as a dream of a unique environment where residents and guests could live and learn - and play and stay - for a day or a lifetime.

Among the benefits possible for buyers is the potential for increased resale values of the hundreds of homes of all shapes and sizes at PGA Village, which currently features condos, townhomes, single-family homes and estates in two dozen neighborhoods. Prices start in the low $200s for 2 BR/2 BA townhomes with 1,600 square-feet of space; and go up to $1.6-million for 5 BR/5 BA estate homes with lake views and 6,200 square-feet of space.

So, there's a home just around the corner from The PGA Golf Club in just about everyone's range of price and amenities.
